DAILY ART FIX: Video – The Cruel Stories of Paula Rego – Animated

Art world links which caught my eye…

The Policeman's Daughter, 1987 - Paula Rego

Paula Rego “The Policeman’s Daughter” acrylic on paper on canvas 84″ x 60″

One of my favorite contemporary painters is Paula Rego (born in Portugal January 26, 1935). Her artistic career took place in England, where over the years she moved away from abstraction into cartoony works, and ultimately more representational paintings. Her imagery took on a compelling, dark fairy tale atmosphere.

Les contes cruels de Paula Rego” (The Cruel Stories of Paul Rego), a 2018 exhibit in a French museum, produced promotional video, which put some of her eerie imagery into motion.
